Fresh Meal Plans

I'm super excited to launch this new blog for anyone interested in doing meal plans and wanting to provide a healthy but quick meal for their family during the week. The official date for the meal plans to start will be Sunday, January 3, 2010!!!! This might be a good New Year's resolution for some of you...to start making healthy meals for your family.

I don't know how it is for your family, but for us with our busy schedules, it is harder to get a home cooked meal on the table that is healthy and quick during the week. Weekends are a little more flexible and I seem to have more time to prepare a "fancy meal", but during the week can be a little more tricky. Thankfully I have two children to take their naps at the same time during the afternoons, so that gives me a little time to prep my meals and make sure everything is done on time. But there are some days that I really am thankful that I have a meal plan to rely on that tells me what we will be having for dinner that night.

Before I had kids, I didn't even know what a "meal plan" was. :) I would shop at the grocery store 3-4 times a week, get food items on a whim and just "throw a meal together." I also had more time back then. When kids came in the picture, I had to change my "shopping habits" because I only wanted to go grocery shopping once a week. So, the good old meal plan method began. It was a little hard at the beginning because like all new habits, you have to get used to them and figure out a method that works best for you. After a month or two though, I was really liking the new method, and now I can't even imagine not doing it. Every day of the week, when my kids ask what we are having for dinner, I can tell them " Spaghetti with salad" or "Chicken Parmigiana with green beans" etc.

This meal plan will only go Monday through Friday. Weekends are your "free days." Some families like to go out to eat, or make one of their favorite dishes at home that take a little more time.

I hope you will find this blog helpful but also fun! Please don't hesitate to comment and give me tips/suggestions on how to improve this blog. I want to also hear about meals that were a success or ones that didn't work out, etc. I hope you will have as much fun as me, finding new recipes that will become family favorites and sharing ideas.
